Hasek’s Good Soldier Svejk

Hasek is described in unheroic terms by his biographers, and his bohemian-anarchist ways contributed to an early death – before he could finish the last volume of his antiwar satire, The Good Soldier Svejk, or hear it praised as “on a level with Cervantes and Rabelais.”
